To make ends meet, the ‘cult’ offered professional web design, which, at the time was sparse due to it being the infant stages of the internet era. Their aesthetic reflected the strangeness of the group's belief system and by looking at their own website ( which is still running ), you can see it was a very early influence on the weirdcore aesthetic. ‘Weirdcore often conveys a feeling of dread, brought forth by its low-quality imagery and a lack of context in regards to the location or the message being shown. This does not mean that Weirdcore is deeply rooted in horror, however, as the feeling of fear left on the viewer is merely a side effect of placing them in an unfamiliar setting.’ — Aesthetic Wiki

This is the type of aesthetic I’d like for my project, projecting and adding to the unnerving, uncomfortable, and unfamiliar feelings I’d like the user to experience whilst interacting with the game.
